Clare Mulley’s first biography, The Woman who Saved the Children, celebrated Eglantyne Jebb, the campaigner who founded Save the Children, winning Clare the Daily Mail Biographer’s Club Prize. Her second, of extraordinary World War II spy, Countess Krystyna Skarbek, won her Poland’s highest civilian honour, the Bene Morito. Here she discusses her most recent work, The Women Who Flew for Hitler, which tells the extraordinary story of the only two female test pilots who served Nazi Germany, yet who ended their lives on opposite sides of history.
